Manhattaned in Manhattan

Updated: Jan 15, 2021

For my birthday last summer we took a trip to Manhattan and had an amazing time. The amazing trip included a night of a my head spinning but it was so worth it.

I love classic cocktails and my favorite is a toss-up between a Manhattan and an Old Fashioned. Both are made with Bourbon but what many don't know is that an Old Fashioned is actually how the cocktail's prepared so can be made with any spirit.

Here's my recipe for the perfect Manhattan:

This post and the photos within it may contain Amazon or other affiliate links. If you purchase something through the link, I may receive a small commission at no extra charge to you.

Ingredients

2 ounces of the bourbon of your choice

(some of my favorites: Angel's Envy, Woodford Reserve, Basil Hayden)

.5-1 ounce of sweet vermouth

(splurge a little here it can make all the difference in flavor)

2-3 of dashes of your favorite bitters, check out a couple of yummy ones' here.

Preparation

Depending on your preference you can either use a shaker or a stirrer. Add ice to whatever you will use to mix your cocktail. Add your dashes of bitters. Add vermouth then bourbon. Shake or Stir (I choose to stir). Using your strainer poor into a martini or coup glass and garnish with luxardo cherry or really anything of your choosing. I've had one garnished with bacon, yum!

Enjoy your Manhattan
